About P.A.P.A.S.
Parent Advocates for the Performing Arts in our Schools (P.A.P.A.S.,Inc.) was founded in 2005, incorporated in 2006, and has acquired 501(c)3 status.
Here's what we have accomplished:
The P.A.P.A.S. Board of Directors has been instrumental in the completion of long-needed improvements to the Beloit Memorial High School performance space, including replacement of the rigging system and major upgrades of both the lighting and sound systems. We also purchased new lighting instruments, set construction tools and microphones. P.A.P.A.S. improved handicapped accessibility on stage and in the house, installed a professional-grade LCD projector and a backstage video system, and improved safety and communications backstage for our students. We installed new house lights in the auditorium, increasing light output while decreasing energy usage.
Since 2005, P.A.P.A.S., Inc. has sponsored three alumni summer theatre productions and brought in a professional New York theatre company to direct BMHS students in Shakespearean productions. We purchased sheet music for the orchestra and choir musical libraries. We supported major trips for the Performing Arts groups: two theatre productions at the International Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland, two Jazz Band competitions in NYC at the Essentially Ellington Jazz Festival, and a performance by the Orchestra at Lincoln Center.
With your contributions, we can tackle a number of important projects that will improve safety in the theater, increase learning potential to bridging technology gaps, and make the performances more professional.
Students who are exposed to the latest technology at the high school level enter college with an enormous advantage, whether they are planning to enter the field of Performing Arts or some other career.
Please keep these projects in mind as you consider donating to P.A.P.A.S., Inc.
