Completed Project List

Because of the very generous donation to P.A.P.A.S. from Lu Ohlander, some major remodeling and stage improvements were completed in 2009. Following is a summary list of the projects completed so far:

MAIN THEATRE LOBBY:

  • reglued, sanded and refinished the lobby doors
  • added new automatic door closers to the lobby doors
  • framed archival lobby theatre production photos and brought them up to date

LAUNDRY ROOM BEHIND THE TICKET BOOTH:

  • widened the laundry room door
  • installed a new ceiling light
  • added electricity and plumbing for the costume laundry
  • purchased two front-loading washers
  • purchased two condensation dryers

RECORDING AREA BESIDE THE LAUNDRY ROOM:

  • dry-walled and insulated an abandoned exit at the bottom of the stairwell
  • installed new electrical circuits
  • installed remote-controlled cameras in both theatres for backstage monitors and for recording productions

CONTROL BOOTH:

  • installed a new digital sound mixing board
  • installed a new lighting control board
  • recycled the previous lighting board for use in the Reinholz Theatre
  • installed an all-new dimming system in the basement for both theatres
  • installed  a control panel for the new LCD projector

ON STAGE – MAIN THEATRE:

  • replaced the standard sized hallway door with a custom double door for ease in stage set-up and allowing the grand piano to be moved from the music room across the hall
  • installed a new exit light and emergency light above the hallway door
  • replaced the 30-line rigging counterweight system (with additional financial support from the School District of Beloit)
  • purchased additional stage weights
  • replaced old electrical wall outlets and installed numerous new outlets and circuits
  • installed a networked lighting control system
  • purchased a new LCD projector which was installed under the speaker cluster
  • purchased seven large LCD monitors for the backstage cast and crew (on stage; orchestra pit; small theatre; classroom)
  • installed an intercom paging system for the Reinholz lobby, the dressing rooms and the classroom
  • installed a block and tackle lift system for moving scenery to the loft storage area
  • purchased a new wireless intercom headset system for the backstage crew.
  • purchased additional wireless microphones for the actors

MAIN THEATRE AUDIENCE AREA:

  • installed new brighter and energy-efficient house lights and controls
  • added new lighting positions on the side walls of the theatre and over the stage apron
  • purchased many new stage lighting instruments
  • repaired and updated the old side wall lighting positions with additional circuitry
  • painted the lower walls of the auditorium after repairing plaster cracks
  • upgraded the sound system with additional speakers and replacement amplifiers

THEATRE CLASSROOM:

  • installed new make-up mirrors and lighting with additional electrical circuits
  • recarpeted the classroom floor
  • installed new heating and air conditioning units replacing a noisy ineffective heater unit
  • purchased two new sewing machines and two sergers for the construction of costumes

SCENE SHOP AND WORKROOM:

  • installed additional electrical outlets
  • replaced most of the ceiling work lights
  • purchased a Genie lift to allow for the safe hanging and focusing of stage lights
  • replaced cord ends on the extension cords
  • purchased replacement batteries and chargers for the cordless drills

ELIZABETH REINHOLZ THEATRE (Little Theatre):

  • installed brighter and more energy-efficient house lights and dimming controls
  • installed fluorescent lights over the seats for classroom and meeting use
  • installed dimmer-per-circuit wiring and new dimmers for the stage lighting
  • installed a camera for the closed circuit TV monitor with recording capability
  • installed more work lighting over the stage
